One Response to “Teaching Through Knowledge From The Other Side with Tricia Barker – Episode 51”

  1. Jenna

I listened to Lisa’s interview with Tricia Barker. I enjoy all the episodes about NDEs. I think we all have something to learn from hearing people talk about these experiences in relation to our priorities in life and what is important to us as far as feeling a sense of love, gratitude, enjoyment, and empathy for our fellow human beings. What would be good is if people could start feeling this way without having an NDE, because obviously it is not good to end up in the type of situation that causes someone to have an NDE.

Tricia was able to understand important truths about life better at an earlier age than most of us do. I am glad it worked out for Tricia to become a teacher. I feel like people consider teaching to be a low status job because it is traditionally a female profession, which I think is sad and unfair to how important it is. I would not want to be a teacher, but I understand the satisfaction of training someone, since I have trained so many co-workers in my career.

I love Lisa’s conversation with Tricia about social media. I read somewhere that social media can make people unhappy at times, since people scroll through their news feed and it looks like all of their friends are having fun and just doing happy things, so people feel bad that their lives are not like that. People tend to share the fun things with everyone and not so much their problems (although some people share their problems at times), and this gives people an incomplete picture to try to judge their own lives. But in the end, we shouldn’t be comparing our lives to other people’s anyway, we should decide for ourselves what determines our own happiness instead of comparing to others. Also, many people think that if someone else has more, that means they have less, when that is not true, most things in life are not a zero-sum game.
